News app Informed launches in Germany

The Berlin start-up wants to win over customers with a kind of Spotify for journalism. The service costs 7.99 euros per month.
The news app Informed aims to bring curated news journalism to users with a freemium model. The founding trio consists of a business strategist, a journalist and a technician. The former is Axel Bar Bringéus, who drove the global expansion of Spotify. Business journalist Martin Kaelble, who previously worked at Capital, will be responsible for the content. Developer Benjamin Mateev previously worked at Microsoft and Wunderlist. We spoke to him Startbase about the plans back in June.
The project was founded in 2021 and is now available in the app stores. Informed was able to raise five million US dollars in seed funding from HV Capital and 468 Capital, among others.
A limited number of articles are available to users free of charge. A subscription costs 7.99 euros per month or 59.99 euros for an annual subscription. Similar projects have not been successful in the past. For example, the Dutch start-up Blendle or Apple's pre-installed News+ service.
