The HR start-up continues its growth trajectory and launches its second acquisition. At the same time, the company is opening new offices in Berlin and Barcelona.

HR tech Personio today announced the acquisition of Berlin-based start-up Back Technologies. Back has developed a technology that automates HR processes and thus aims to increase the efficiency of companies. According to the company, the acquisition is intended to support Personio's strategic focus on further expanding its automated work processes. The aim is to enable HR teams to work efficiently across departments and tools.

Founded in 2018, the start-up Back has developed an interactive ticket system for employees. This allows employee inquiries to be sent via communication channels such as Slack or Microsoft Teams and answered automatically in some cases. "On the one hand, our customers benefit from a central location, a one-stop store for employee inquiries. On the other hand, the Back team has a huge amount of experience in developing workflows that bring fragmented tasks together," says Hanno Renner, co-founder and CEO of Personio.

Back's existing products for ticket systems and knowledge management will be fully integrated into Personio's offering. Back founders Christian Eggert (CEO) and James Lafa (CTO) will join Personio as Head of Product and Head of Engineering.
