Raisin DS is now Unicorn

According to a media report, a long-time investor has valued the company at €1.3 billion. This would make the freshly merged company one of the most important fintechs in Germany.

Only a few weeks ago, Raisin and Deposit Solutions merged. The offer was apparently too similar, the competition too tough for both to grow quickly. Now it becomes clear: The merger under the joint name Raisin DS has paid off, at least in terms of valuation. According to the investor Kinnevik, this is now 1.3 billion euros and makes the fintech a unicorn.

This puts Raisin DS, led by Tamaz Georgadze, in a league with other fintech giants such as N26, Mambu, Scalable Capital or Trade Republic. Admittedly, some of these are already valued at several billion US dollars or euros, Trade Repblic for example at 5.3 billion US dollars. But the valuation of the now merged interest rate portal is quite respectable. Finance Forward first reported on the valuation.

Raisin DS has only existed in this form for a few weeks. Previously, both Raisin and Deposit Solutions offered so-called interest marketplaces. Customers from Europe could find there interest offers from banks in Europe, which were higher than in their own home country due to higher risks and increased capital requirements of foreign financial institutions. For example, German savers could park money with Bulgarian banks, which added a premium to their interest rates. As both had very similar products, they have joined forces and now trade under Raisin DS. Together, they also want to raise new capital soon and take the plunge into the US.
