Robert Bueninck becomes new boss at Fintech Unzer

The start-up from Heidelberg is changing its management. The previous CEO Axel Rebien has to go.
Fintech Unzer has a new boss. Robert Buenick becomes CEO of the Heidelberg-based fintech. He was previously the start-up's Chief Commercial Officer and replaces Axel Rebien. According to the company, the change is part of a transformation process. Jacob von Ingelheim will be appointed Managing Director in addition to his role as Chief Financial and Risk Officer. Under Rebien's leadership, Unzer has acquired and integrated ten companies in just 18 months. In the past financial year, the fintech recorded growth of around 40 percent.
"Now is the right time to usher in the next phase of the company's development with a new management team," says Rebien on his departure. "I am extremely proud of everything we have achieved over the past few years. Unzer is well on the way to challenging the top players in the European payment industry. I wish my successor Robert and his team all the best on this journey."
Buenick worked at payment service provider Klarna for eight years before joining Unzer. He only moved to the Heidelberg-based fintech (Startbase reported). "We want to bring together all the bright minds of the integrated companies, combine forces, further standardize our offering and thus continue the success story," says Bueninck. Unzer is a service provider for international payments and has set itself the goal of becoming one of the top 3 payment companies in Europe.
