Segment of One sold to Schwarz Group

It was only last year that Wirecard bought the Berlin start-up Segment of One - and dragged it into bankruptcy shortly afterwards. Now, according to a media report, the start-up has found a new buyer.
According to a report in the magazine Capital magazine, Segment of One has a new owner: the Schwarz Group has bought the Berlin start-up. It is the end of a story full of twists and turns: Last year, Segment of One was bought out by Wirecard AG. When the latter stumbled over its accounting scandal and filed for insolvency, the start-up also became insolvent. In September, the two founders bought up the remains of their company for a five-figure sum, otherwise the insolvency administration of Wirecard AG would have dissolved Segment of One.
A spokeswoman for the Schwarz Group confirmed to Capital that the entire Segment of One team and technology would be taken over on June 2. There is talk of a significant sum in the millions for the purchase. "The company's expertise complements our existing portfolio," the spokesperson told Capital. Segment of One will use its software to monetize the use of data to build an advertising network under the name Schwarz Media Platform.
The Berlin-based start-up had actually expected to find a buyer for an exit in the USA and had therefore also registered a company location there.
