Spendit cooperates with Solarisbank and Visa

With Wirecard, Spendit has lost an important cooperation partner. Now the Munich-based fintech has found an alternative.

The Wirecard insolvency continues to have an impact: Fintech Spendit had been working with a subsidiary of the group until the summer. The new partners are now Solarisbank and Visa. With them, the fintech will issue its prepaid non-cash card, the SpenditCard, in the future. "At Solarisbank, we appreciate the combination of technology expertise and Bafin-regulated institution with a full German banking license," says Spendit CEO Florian Gottschaller.

Spendit is one of the largest providers of prepaid non-cash cards in Germany. According to its own information, its 5,500 corporate customers include Rewe and Lufthansa. With the SpenditCard, employees have a voucher for their purchases, so to speak. According to the start-up, it is predominantly used by employers for the €44 tax-free benefit in kind (known as a fuel voucher).

Since going out of business in June, the start-up had been looking for a new service provider and has now found one in Solarisbank. Solarisbank announced its interest in acquiring Wirecard customers early on.
