The startup has closed its pre-seed funding round, according to a media report. The backers include a well-known head from German television.

Berlin-based startup Sqin has raised a round of pre-seed funding, according to a report from Gründerszene closed a pre-seed funding round. In addition to major venture capitalists Accel and APX, Thomas Hayo, a judge on the show Germany's Next Topmodel for many years, is also said to have invested. In total, Sqin is said to have raised one million euros.

A spokeswoman confirmed Hayo's investment to the magazine. "The founding team met Thomas Hayo in New York a long time ago. Since then, a personal relationship developed, which is why he contributed his expertise right from the start," she told Gründerszene.

Sqin is dedicated to fighting skin problems and diseases. Often, the startup said, those are linked to mental illnesses. "Due to the massive lack of dermatological care options, a vicious

vicious circle: skin problems cannot be treated in time and thus worsen mental health, which in turn exacerbates skin problems," the start-up explains.

The young company from Berlin is tinkering with an AI-based app that is intended to stand by users throughout their lives and support them in all matters relating to their skin health and personal well-being. Dermatologists will be able to make minor diagnoses via telemedicine using the app.
