Uni App closes seed round

Frankfurt-based EdTech raises one million euros and aims to expand its presence in the coming months, particularly in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The Edtech Uni App has completed its seed financing round of one million euros. The start-up, founded by Fahed Jaarah, aims to simplify the application process for international students for over 50,000 study programs in Europe. The money comes from an undisclosed family office from North Rhine-Westphalia.
The capital is to be invested in AI expansion and sales expansion. The start-up wants to be better prepared, as 100,000 foreign students began their studies at a German university in 2020 despite coronavirus. The app centralizes the application process, applicants only have to upload their documents once and can then use them to apply to several universities at the same time. Thanks to the AI-based search engine, students also receive suitable suggestions for degree programs. The app is also designed to simplify the process for universities. They can enter all important information, such as costs and visa requirements, in over 600 fields and provide clear information.
For app founder Fahed Jaarah, the international exchange of students is important as they have unique skills and bring fresh perspectives with them. In addition, an exchange would positively stimulate the economy: "The economic stimulus they trigger far exceeds the tuition fees, food and rent they pay. New cultural perspectives are created and, at the same time, the people involved in the exchange become more liberal and tolerant."
