Uni App closes seed round
Anna-Lena Malter | 16.05.2022Frankfurt-based EdTech raises one million euros and aims to expand its presence in the coming months, especially in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
Edtech Uni App has closed its seed funding round of one million euros. Founded by Fahed Jaarah, the startup aims to make it easier for international students to apply for more than 50,000 study programs in Europe. The money comes from an unnamed family office in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The capital will be invested in AI expansion and sales expansion. With this, the start-up wants to better prepare itself, as 100,000 foreign students had also started their studies at a German university in 2020, despite Corona. The app centralizes the application process, applicants only have to upload their documents once and can then use them to apply to several universities at the same time. Thanks to the AI-based search engine, students also receive suitable suggestions for courses of study. The app is also designed to simplify the process for universities. In more than 600 fields, they can enter all important information, such as costs and visa requirements, and provide clear information.
For the app's founder, Fahed Jaarah, the international exchange of students is important because they possess unique skills and bring fresh perspectives with them. In addition, exchanges would positively stimulate the economy: "The economic boost they provide far exceeds the tuition, food and rent they pay. New cultural perspectives emerge, and at the same time, people involved in the exchange become more liberal and tolerant."
