Wandelbots raises $84 million

The Dresden-based start-up has won over investors with a software construction kit for robots.
Wandelbots raises 84 million US dollars as part of a Series C financing round. The Dresden-based start-up announces that global technology investor Insight Partners from New York City is now also participating. Existing investors 83North, Microsoft, Next47, Paua, Atlantic Labs, Haniel and EQT also participated in the current round.
Wandelbots aims to drive forward the automation of industrial robots. With the help of its own software, it should be possible to teach robots without any programming knowledge. "Two roadshows in the USA and China prove that the demand for simple robot operation is high worldwide," says co-founder and CEO Christian Piechnick. Expansion to North America and Asia is already being planned.
Christian Piechnick founded the Dresden-based start-up in 2017 and Wandelbots now employs more than 140 people from 17 countries. In addition to the "Wandelbots Teaching" solution for robot programming, the company also offers a developer platform. According to the company, more than 123 million US dollars in capital has been raised since its foundation. The Wandelbots technology is already being used by BMW, VW, Bayer and Fraunhofer.
