Katjes Greenfood invests in Unmilk

Private investors can also participate in Katjes Greenfood's investments by granting subordinated loans.
The Hamburg-based start-up Unmilk has set itself the goal of establishing plant-based drinks so that fewer people consume environmentally harmful cow's milk. The company Katjes Greenfood has now invested in Unmilk. The exact amount has not been disclosed.
Private investors can also participate via crowdinvesting: On a Katjes Greenfood website, they can Vergeveb subordinated loans for investments in the company's portfolio companies. The subordinated loan has a term of five years and the interest rate is five percent per year. On top of this, there is a possible bonus interest rate of five percent. Subordinated loans are usually particularly risky, as in the event of the borrower's financial ruin, the lender only receives payment once all other creditors have been paid.
Unmilk not only offers "normal" oat drinks and protein oat shakes, but also an oat drink powder for mixing or drinks of the pumpkin seed, barista or hemp protein varieties. The company was awarded the "Vegan Food Award" 2021 as "Best Plant Drink" by the animal welfare organization "Peta". The products are available in some supermarket and drugstore chains. Katjesgreenfood is a Düsseldorf-based company that is involved in 14 companies. These include, for example, the well-known vegan brand Veganz.
