Fast and freshly prepared dishes, but not by human hands, but by robots: this is what the start-up Aitme is working on, founded by former Foodora CEO Emanuel Pallua and Julian Stoß, who used to be at Foodpanda and has had stints at Foodora and Delivery Hero. Now the Berlin-based company is raising €7.5 million in a funding round, as Gründerszene first reported. The money comes from HV Capital and Global Founders Capital, a fund of Rocket Internet. Business angel Oliver Ringleben is also involved, as well as existing investors La Famiglia and Vorwerk Ventures.

Aitme has raised ten million euros since its founding. The cooking robot is still only available as a prototype. The funding will cover the running costs of the coming months and support the 20-strong team, according to the start-up. The development needs time, which Pallua wants to use to perfect the cooking robot, he tells Gründerszene. The development team is based in Munich. Aitme already has its first customer: the AI incubator Merantix from Berlin, which should receive the first robot in the next few weeks.

The goal is to first address companies with canteens that can replace them with the robot. Later, the robot should also be found in public spaces such as train stations or hotels.
