Accountable expands financing to ten million euros

With the new capital, the tax app wants to expand in Europe and launch new offerings.

Berlin-based tax startup Accountable expands its Series A funding round, raising a total of ten million euros. Munich-based investor 10x Founders, Billie founders Matthias Knecht and Christian Grobe, and George Pallis, former marketing director of Deliveroo and Transferwise, are investing in the company. The startup had already received six million euros from venture capital funds Stride.VC and Connect Ventures by the end of 2021.

"The next wave of fintech innovation is taxes. Accountable has developed the best solution for self-employed people here," says Felix Haas, early-stage investor and founder of 10x Founders. The fintech wants to enable self-employed people to file their tax returns with just a few clicks via a mobile and web-based app. With the app, users should be able to digitize their accounting and save taxes. Already 20,000 self-employed would use the app.

Series founders Tino Keller and Nicolas Quarré founded the start-up with offices in Berlin and Brussels in 2020. Before the end of this year, the startup also wants to integrate business tax returns into the app and launch other financial services for the self-employed. It plans to use the newly received investment to expand into other European countries.
