In April of this year, the start-up for painting courses raised new funding. Now 26 employees have to go.

The start-up Artnight has apparently recently laid off 26 employees, according to start-up scene reports. This corresponds to more than a third of the company's entire workforce. Founder Aimie-Sarah Carstensen has confirmed the redundancies. All areas of the company are affected by the redundancies, even the management.

Founded in 2016, the company offers painting courses. Customers of the start-up can bring their own painting to canvas under the guidance of local artists. According to Artnight, 500 artists belong to the start-up's network. The start-up completed a financing round in April of this year. STS Ventures, IBB Ventures and F4 invested in the Berlin-based company. The existing investors Acton Capital and Monkfish also invested again. Artnight did not disclose the amount of the financing round at the time.

The redundancies were not the result of pressure from investors, Carstensen told start-up scene with. Instead, the redundancies were to be understood as a consequence of the overall economic situation. The company was prepared for the fact that customers might cut back on leisure activities.
