It should be able to travel 200 kilometers on solar power and otherwise run on a battery. The name of the van has also already been decided.

The German-Tunisian start-up Bako Motors has already given the website Basic Thinking has developed a solar cell van called Quorax. The name means "sun" or "sun god". It is intended to be an alternative to conventional electric cars. Delivery services in particular could use the vehicle. It has a solar-powered range of 200 kilometers. However, the sun has to play along for this.

Founders Boubaker Siala and his son Ibrahim had the idea for the start-up when they wanted to convert their own bike into an e-bike. They then developed a solar-powered van. It has three wheels, a battery and solar panels on the roof. These recharge the battery even while driving. Quorax takes around two hours to fully charge when plugged in.

The Quorax is designed to be particularly simple, which saves material, time and costs. The first version of the vehicle will cost just 4,400 euros and will initially be manufactured in Tunisia. It is due to go on sale at the end of 2022. The next model is due to appear in 2023 - and will have four wheels. Pre-orders are already possible.
