Crisp comes to Germany

The Dutch company is thus attacking German providers such as Frischepost. It is bringing new investors on board for its expansion.
The Dutch online supermarket Crisp will soon be coming to Germany. This is reported in the Handelsblatt. Crisp has raised 30 million euros in capital for the new expansion. The round is led by Berlin-based venture capitalist Target Global. The Dutch company has now raised a total of 46 million euros.
Crisp supplies customers in large cities with products from the region. Farmers, bakers and fishermen are among the product suppliers. This puts the company in direct competition with the German provider Frischepost. Unlike its competitor, however, Crisp provides the infrastructure itself, while Frischepost relies on a franchise system.
The three founders behind Crisp are Eric Klaassen, Tom Peeters and Michiel Roodenburg. They launched the company in 2018 and increased their turnover sevenfold last year - probably mainly due to the pandemic.
