These are Europe's most valuable start-ups

An analysis shows that Europe had 52 Unicorns in May of this year, compared to 32 companies with a valuation of over one billion euros in 2020.
Europe has 52 Unicorns - that's 20 more companies than last year with a valuation of over one billion US dollars. Together they are worth over 800 billion US dollars. This is according to a study by London-based bank G.P. Bullhound. The data dates back to May - so it is no longer entirely up-to-date, as Scalable Capital, for example, has received a billion-dollar valuation since then. In addition, the first German Decacorn Celonis is still included under Unicorns. In total, there are 18 of these companies in Europe with a valuation of over two billion US dollars.
Nevertheless, the figures show that start-ups are becoming increasingly valuable. The highest valued young company in Europe is the Dutch company Adyen, which is currently worth over 50 billion US dollars and is therefore listed as a "tech titan" in the bank's Titan of Techs report. The closest to this status are the German Delivery Hero and the Swedish Evolution Gaming, according to the analysis by G. P. Bullhound. The authors describe Gorillas, Hopin and Cazoo, which all became unicorns within a year, as particularly successful start-ups during the coronavirus pandemic. German unicorns also include Trade Republic, N26, Mambu and Flix Mobility.
