Ecovery raises funding and announces acquisition
Janina Gerhardt | 20.06.2022The start-up wants to tackle back, hip and knee pain with a therapy app. Now the founders are securing new capital.
The therapy app Ecovery closes a second round of financing. In the process, 1750 Ventures, Adesso Ventures and business angel Frank Steinert invest. At the same time, the company announces the acquisition of Online Physiotherapie GmbH (OPT). In the course of this, Ecovery integrates the OPT YouTube channel with over 100,000 subscribers as well as the digital prevention courses for a pain-free back into its offering. OPT founder Raphael Ibele also moves up to Ecovery's management team.
"We are very happy that we are joining forces and can now cover almost the entire patient journey with OPT," says Ecovery founder Marcus Rehwald. "This enables us to offer a solution to patients at every stage of life and help people anywhere, anytime."
Rehwald co-founded Ecovery in 2019 with Benedict Rehbein and Alexander Georgi. The founders' therapy app aims to be a "physiotherapist for your pocket." With the help of sensor-supported therapy exercises for the home, patients are supposed to get better faster. Among other things, the app includes videos for home training and a pain diary. The start-up claims to be working with various health insurers such as Techniker (TK) and AOK Plus.
