Einhundert Energie founds joint venture

Cleantech wants to finance solar projects together with the private equity firm Triodos. The long-term aim is to raise 70 million euros as an investment.

The Cologne-based start-up Einhundert Energie is setting up a joint venture with the private equity firm Triodos Investment Management. The new company, Einhundert Solar, is to finance photovoltaic systems on residential and office buildings. Triodos is investing via its Energy Transition Europe Fund. The aim is to raise 70 million euros in the long term. "The ability to finance rooftop solar systems on a large scale and in a highly standardized way gives a significant boost to our growth trajectory and the uniqueness of our offering to real estate companies," explained Einhundert CEO Ernesto Garnier.

Einhundert, founded in 2017 by Garnier and Markus Reinhold, focuses on the installation of solar systems, especially in multi-family buildings. Among other things, the company offers real estate companies a kind of complete package in which it plans, builds and finances the solar systems. The residents are then supplied with electricity afterwards. Previous partners include the Ratingen-based construction company Interboden and the Düsseldorf housing association Rheinwohnungsbau.

In addition to the joint venture, Triodos is also joining Einhundert as an investor. According to the companies, this is a minority shareholding. Triodos will also be represented on the advisory board by Daphne Posma.
