Retailers can now deliver with Wolt

The couriers of the delivery service will also drive retail express deliveries in the future.

The delivery company now also offers deliveries for retailers, as the Handelsblatt reports. Founded in 2014 in Helsinki, Finland, the company is part of the U.S. market leader DoorDash and is now competing with classic bicycle couriers with its new "Wolt Drive" offering. But larger providers like DPD, Hermes, DHL and young start-ups like Liefergrün now have one more competitor.

There are 4,000 male and female cyclists on the road for Wolt in Germany. Until now, they have mainly delivered food, so outside the peak times of midday and evening, the order situation is thin. With more deliveries, the couriers can also earn more money and the margin for the company increases, according to Wolt's calculations.

Local stores can now offer delivery via Wolt on their websites. Integration via the Shopify app is also possible. The company has already successfully tested such deliveries in Croatia. The company is now represented in 23 countries, and in Germany since 2020.
