Elon Musk threatens Wirelane with cease-and-desist letter

Wirelane founder Constantin Schwaab recently received a warning from Musk's lawyers. The accusation: damage to reputation.
Wirelane founder Constantin Schwaab recently received a cease-and-desist letter from Elon Musk's German lawyers, as the Handelsblatt reports. Musk accuses Schwaab of damaging his reputation. The latter sent a circular to customers in the summer, warning them about Tesla charging columns. He said that these were not compatible with German calibration law, which could become a problem for customers. In the circular, he then also pointed out a suitable alternative: The Wirelane charging stations.
In an interview with Handelsblatt , Schwaab then also confesses his clear business interest. Tesla now accuses him and Wirelane of damage to reputation and even threatens to escalate to a cease-and-desist letter. According to Tesla, the statements in the circular disparage the automaker's products and business circumstances.
According to Schwaab, there had been no other contact before the letter from the lawyers. However, he says his startup, founded in Munich in 2016, is not a direct competitor of Tesla at all: First, the entire Wirelane fleet consists of Teslas. Secondly, Tesla offers fast-charging columns, which Wirelane does not have in its range.
