The start-up has thus closed its highest financing round to date. HV Capital is leading it.

There are prominent names participating in Enpal's €100 million funding round. In addition to HV Capital, which is leading the funding round, Peter Rive, co-founder of SolarCity, HelloFresh co-founder Thomas Griesel and EX-Auto1 COO Christopher Muhr, among others, have also added money.

It was only in 2017 that Mario Kohle, Viktor Wingert and Jochen Ziervogel founded their start-up. Enpal offers solar systems on a subscription basis. This eliminates high investment costs for homeowners. After 20 years, they can take over the system for just one euro. So far, Enpal has been able to convince more than 8,000 customers with this business idea. Last year, the start-up installed 4,500 systems, more than any other German solar company, according to its own information.

Enpal is well on its way to changing the renewable energy market forever, Christian Saller of HV Capital is convinced. "Due to the size of the still very young renewable energy market, we see enormous growth potential for Enpal," he says. With the money it has now raised, Enpal intends to push ahead with its expansion. "We are already building as many systems every day as we did in the whole of 2017, and we want to build on this momentum over the next few years to be able to install one million solar systems by the end of the decade," says co-founder Mario Kohle.
