Exakt Health raises $1.5 million

The healthtech wants to use the money to expand in the USA. Maximilian Tayenthal is also investing in the startup run by the ex-N26 managers.
Exakt Health has received $1.5 million from investors. BackBone Ventures led the pre-seed funding round, and Auxxo also invested in the Berlin-based healthtech. In addition, existing investors Possible Ventures, N26 founder Maximilian Tayenthal and existing investors Cornelia Hoppe and Gloria Bäuerlein participated.
With the fresh capital, the startup of former N26 employees Philipp Billaudelle and Lucia Payo wants to have its physical therapy app certified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and expand in the United States. The free app offers customized treatment plans and daily exercises for various sports injuries and is already approved as a medical device in Europe. The company says the app has gained 8000 users in the EU and UK since its launch last year. "This funding round is the next big step in making sports physiotherapy easily accessible across Europe and the U.S.," says Exakt-Health co-founder Billaudelle.
The startup also plans to use the funds from the funding round to expand its offerings. In upcoming updates, the app will be expanded to include training plans for treating ankle sprains, gluteal strains and patellar tendinitis.
