Exakt Health secures 2.2 million euros in seed funding for the further development of its digital sports physiotherapy and the launch of AI-based running training plans

Berlin, September 23, 2024 - Digital sports physiotherapy startup Exakt Health has closed a €2.2 million seed funding round. The leading investor was Barmenia Next Strategies (BNS), the venture capital unit of Barmenia Versicherung, supported by ESB Invest, Backbone Ventures, Auxxo and business angels such as Maximilian Tayenthal (N26) and Cornelia Oelling (HR expert). Exakt Health plans to use the funds to significantly expand its offering for the treatment and prevention of running injuries.

AI-based running training plans for personalized care

In addition to the existing digital programs, Exakt Health will be introducing AI-based running training plans in the coming weeks, which offer runners individualized and dynamic training plans. These automatically adapt to the user's fitness level, injury risk and progress and are designed to prevent injuries and achieve performance goals.

Our vision is to develop the most comprehensive app for runners that combines physiotherapy and the latest training science.

Philip Billaudelle, Exakt Health CEO and co-founder

According to co-founder and CEO Philip Billaudelle, the new offering should help to increase the user base from 200,000 to over one million in the next 18 months.

Partnership with Barmenia health insurance

Another important development is the partnership with Barmenia Krankenversicherung, which will give 300,000 policyholders with private comprehensive health insurance free access to the Exakt Health app. The cooperation is intended to significantly increase the reach of the digital therapy offering. Further partnerships with health insurance companies are already planned. Dr. Jan Seidel, Managing Director of Barmenia Next Strategies, emphasizes the effectiveness of the app's science-based approach.

Exakt Health shows how digital solutions can shape modern and patient-centered healthcare.
