Flixbus parent company is now called Flix

The company is thus saying goodbye to the name Flixmobility and changing its legal form.

Flixbus' parent company, Flixmobility, is now called Flix. The Munich-based unicorn start-up is also changing its legal form from a GmbH to an SE. The mobility provider is thus introducing a new umbrella brand. Flixbus and the Flixtrain train service are to be united under this.

Why the new name? It's probably primarily a matter of simplification. André Schwämmlein, CEO of Flix, explains, "Booking on our website or app is as simple as the name." The shortening is intended to "emphasize the core values of the product and the company even more," the company writes.

The company, which became famous for its green buses, first attracted attention in Germany - and has since become a global company. Last year, the company had even announced that it would take over the U.S. company Greyhound and thus conquer the U.S. market. Greyhound is an important means of transport for many people in the USA and has cult status. Founder Schwämmlein also sees the bus as a way of replacing more short-haul flights in the future: "The fact that the long-distance bus is the most environmentally friendly means of long-distance transport in terms of CO2 emissions per passenger kilometer is no longer a secret," Schwämmlein said at the time to Focus Online.
