The delivery service is closing its Belgian warehouses. Business in Italy, Spain and Denmark is also on the line.

After just under a year, Gorillas is pulling out of Belgium. According to information from Gründerszene the fast delivery service has already closed most of its department stores. Around 200 employees at the site in Belgium are affected by layoffs.

Belgian online delivery company Efarmz is taking over parts of Gorillas' business. These are, according to the Handelsblatt's local business analytics solutions and some of the administrative staff. Efarmz is also taking over Gorillas' customer base. Customers from Brussels can already order through Efarmz, and from September this will also be possible in the Flanders region. The companies have agreed not to disclose the exact purchase price.

The Italian, Spanish and Danish markets are also on the brink. According to Gründerszene, Gorillas is currently reviewing strategic options for these locations and is looking for buyers to take over all or parts of the business. How things will continue in these countries is still unclear. However, the business in Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and in New York City is said to be unaffected.
