Heartbeat Medical wins CSS as investor

The startup has developed a healthcare platform to help medical professionals make better decisions.

Heartbeat Medical has gained a new investor: CSS, one of the most important insurers in Switzerland, has invested in the Berlin-based start-up through Swisshealth Ventures AG.

Heartbeat Medical is a leading provider of measurement and analysis of so-called Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs), i.e. health outcomes that are directly documented by patients - and their linkage with clinical data. One of Heartbeat Medical's offerings: With the help of the digital platform, patients can be asked about their symptoms, their course of recovery and their overall quality of life. In combination with clinical data, the software is intended to provide a basis for decision-making by medical personnel. The company also offers services in the area of reimbursement models and quality assurance of service agreements.

Yannik Schreckenberger, CEO of Heartbeat Medical, is excited about the investment. "The routine use of patient-reported outcomes is no longer supported only by healthcare providers and regional regulators, but now also by Switzerland's largest health insurer, CSS," he says. "We are very pleased to have the support of CSS as an insightful partner with strategic vision for advancing quality-based care and reimbursement models."

Founded in 2014, the company operates out of Berlin, Cologne and London. Among other things, employees there take care of product development and support for more than 250 centers, registries and research projects.
