Heinz Dürr joins Green City Solutions

The Dresden-based biotech receives millions in funding. It intends to use the money to expand its product range.
The biotech Green City Solutions, founded in Dresden in 2014 and now based in Bestensee near Berlin, has received funding in the single-digit millions from Heinz Dürr Invest. The company did not disclose the exact amount. Green City Solutions intends to use the new capital to expand its Citybreeze, Citytree and Wallbreeze products in particular, according to founder Peter Sänger.
Green City Solution aims to create "fresh air zones" with filtering and cooling functions. Citytree, for example, is a fine dust filter for urban spaces that works through the natural air filtration of moss and integrated IoT for an automated irrigation and ventilation system. The other products also work using a combination of moss and IoT technology. According to the start-up, the devices can already be found in several German cities such as Berlin and Bonn, as well as in London and Zurich.
The three market-ready solutions impressed Heinz Dürr from the company. "The technology from Green City Solutions is a pioneering example of how ecology and economy can go well together," says entrepreneur Heinz Dürr. For founder and Managing Director Peter Sänger, this investment is an "absolute milestone."
