Hellofresh Go has a new owner

Convini, a company from Sweden that offers smart refrigerators at the workplace, acquires the insolvent startup.

Before Corona, many food startups were trying to conquer the office. The pandemic put an early end to that goal, with many people working in home offices. Swedish company Convini now wants to conquer the market for itself. The company yesterday acquired Hellofresh Go, the insolvent subsidiary of Hellofresh.

The purchase comes into effect on the first of June, through it Convini will become the German market leader, according to its own estimates. "Germany is an incredibly important market for us and the acquisition of Hellofresh Go is an important part of our expansion plans," said Convini CEO Mats Palmquist.

Swedish family-owned Convini was founded more than 25 years ago and says it is now the market leader in Sweden and Europe for smart refrigerators and coffee vending machines in workplaces. The acquisition of Hellofresh Go is expected to turn Convini into a billion-dollar company.

Hellofresh Go had launched in 2018 as a spinoff of Hellofresh. The subsidiary supplies meal boxes to food vending machines at corporate customers. However, the pandemic largely killed the business for Hellofresh Go.
