Holidu raises 37 million euros
Lisa Marie Münster | 14.05.2021The Munich-based travel startup hasn't been hurt by the Corona pandemic: in a recent funding round, Holidu raises €37 million, bringing its total funding to €100 million.
Start-up Holidu has closed a successful Series D funding round: the Munich-based company was able to raise €37 million. The round is led by British venture capitalist 83North, with existing investors such as Prime Ventures, EQT Ventures and Coparion also joining in. Claret Capital, formerly known as Harbert European Growth Capital, is providing both equity and venture debt, the amount of the loan is not known.
"With the funding, we will invest heavily in product development and double our tech organization," says co-founder and CTO Michael Siebers. It will also be followed by new offices for the Bookiply brand, under which Holidu offers software for vacation home renters.
The investment brings Holidu's total funding to €100 million. The travel accommodation platform has been able to win despite the Corona pandemic and the slump in the travel industry by renting out holiday homes in rural areas. "Despite the lockdowns, some of which are still ongoing, we are already recording significantly more bookings for 2021 than before the pandemic in 2019 and we expect demand to increase sharply again this summer," says co-founder and CEO Johannes Siebers. Holidu is now active in 21 markets with ten locations worldwide. Last year, Holidu's search engine was able to become operationally profitable, the startup writes.
