According to Keese, the information from the data analysis of the satellites will be part of the infrastructure in the future. In the future, communication via satellites could be used to detect leaks in pipelines from space or to optimize fertilizer use in agriculture down to the square meter.

Role models for so-called new-space startups include Bavarian company Isar Aerospace, a manufacturer of small launch vehicles, and Berlin-based Earth observation startup Liveeo. The focus for the investments is on young companies that already have several rounds of financing behind them.
