New venture capitalist Cusp Capital

Well-known investors from Tengelmann, 300 million euros and clear goals as to which start-ups they want to support: This is the concept of the new venture capitalist Cusp Capital.
Cusp Capital is the name of the new venture capitalist led by Christian Winter. Together with Jan Sessenhausen, Helmut Klawitter and Wilken Engelbracht, he wants to invest in start-ups. All of them come from the Tengelmann company, which also has its own venture capital arm, Tengelmann Ventures. They are to operate independently of Tengelmann.
The fund set up comprises 300 million euros, which is to be used for 25 to 30 companies. For initial investments, the team intends to invest sums in the single-digit millions. In the current year, Cusp Capital intends to complete five or six investments, with a focus on early-stage start-ups. The venture capitalist is based in Essen and Berlin.
In terms of content, Cusp Capital is primarily interested in ideas outside the start-up metropolises of Berlin and Munich and away from the usual concepts that primarily appeal to a specific clientele. For example, the focus should be on services in the low price segment or offerings that benefit the majority of people and are not just used by individual groups, such as instant food delivery services. The investors also see sustainability with the help of digital solutions as a topic for themselves.
