Smafo raises seven-figure sum

The start-up from Paderborn sells e-bikes and offers suitable service packages on a subscription basis. Now an investor is getting on board.
The e-bike provider Smafo has received a seven-figure investment from Stuttgart-based early growth investor Engelhardt Kaupp Kiefer & Co.
"We know that the simplicity of our product encourages people to cycle more," says Managing Director and co-founder Sven-Ulrik Schneider. He founded the start-up together with André Thiele in 2018. The founding duo want to give their customers the easiest possible access to e-bikes. Mobility should be sustainable and affordable. Smafo offers e-bikes for 1,999 euros. In addition to e-bikes, the start-up also offers services in a subscription model. Among other things, customers can purchase insurance packages, letters of protection, a replacement service, GPS tracking, digital locks and service booklets from the start-up.
"We are looking forward to working with the Smafo team, who have impressed us not only with their expertise but also with their passion for their vision," says Roman Loch, Managing Director of Engelhardt Kaupp Kiefer & Co.
