Störtebekker Shaving Accessories raises money

The start-up from the e-commerce sector has focused on products from the beard care segment. The state of Hesse was one of the investors.
The start-up Störtebekker Shaving Accessories (SSA) has been able to raise capital. The state of Hesse invested in the e-commerce company via its Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen mbH (BMH) and the Investitions- und Strukturbank Rheinland-Pfalz (ISB) via a subsidiary of ISB. A co-investor is said to have provided money for this purpose. In total, the investment amounts to a high six-figure sum.
Martin Picard founded the start-up in 2017, back then as an Amazon store. Two years ago, he then opened an online store for shaving and beard care products. These include razors and various accessories such as soaps and brushes. Founder Picard explains the difference to other offers as follows: "In contrast to the widely used system razors, we focus on products that are also used in professional barbershops. Our plastic-free products are characterized by an optimal shaving result with less skin irritation."
The money will be used to expand distribution and new sales platforms. For example, Picard wants to bring the start-up's products to retailers and barbershops.
The investors are happy. "We are delighted to be able to support this promising company on its growth path together with our colleagues from Hesse," says Mike Walber, Head of Venture Capital at ISB.
