Hamburg - suena, a start-up focused on AI-based optimization and trading services for flexibility in the energy grid, has successfully closed its seed financing round. This round raised €3 million, led by the Santander InnoEnergy Climate Fund and Energie 360's Smart Energy Innovation Fund, with additional participation from existing investors such as EIT InnoEnergy, Raakwark Kaptaal and business angels. The capital will support suena in bringing an innovative AI-based software solution called "Autopilot" to the European market, expanding its functionality and growing the team.

The suena Autopilot provides a fully automated trading-as-a-service platform for energy storage and renewable energy system operators to provide storage capacity and renewable energy when and where it is needed most.

The software, called Autopilot, represents a new approach to monetize flexibilities in the energy grid. suena has developed a multi-market optimization and trading software based on price and market forecasts to optimize the deployment schedule of energy storage across different electricity and balancing markets. The autopilot processes data in real time and is designed to maximize profits and minimize risks in the markets.

The investment from Santander and Energie 360, complemented by existing partners, demonstrates confidence in suena's technology and strategy for the efficient use of energy storage. This investment will strengthen the team and support expansion as suena aims to optimize energy trading and make energy storage operations more efficient. Back in 2022, we reported on a successful round of 1.2 million euros for the Hamburg-based start-up. With the current round, the company appears to be on the right track, even in a difficult market environment.
