Tencent joins Clark

The Chinese internet company is leading a funding round of insurance startup Clark.
Clark has closed its Series C funding round with a sum of 69 million euros. The biggest backer is Chinese conglomerate Tencent, known for chat app WeChat. Previous investors Portag3 Ventures, White Star Capital and Yabeo have raised.
Clark is an app that aims to give users an overview of their insurance policies. In the event of an insurance claim, Clark mediates between the insurance company and the customer. The start-up was founded in Frankfurt in 2015. "With its technology-driven and customer-centric business model, Clark is a clear leader in the digital insurance industry in Germany," Alex Leung, assistant general manager of Tencent, said of the internet firm's new investment.
On the other hand, Christopher Oster, co-founder and chief executive at Clark is also dishing out praise: "We are excited to grow even faster with Tencent's help to achieve our goal of becoming the largest consumer insurance broker in Europe," he says.
