THE-Ranking: TU Munich is the most innovative university
The ranking lists universities worldwide according to SDG criteria: Together with three other universities, the Technical University takes first place in the Innovation sub-sector.
It's no surprise that the Technical University of Munich is innovative. Now it has taken first place in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking in the area of industry, innovation and infrastructure. For this, the number of publications is listed that have far-reaching consequences and lasting impact for innovations. Together with the University of British Columbia, the University of Toronto and TU Delft, TUM also achieved the highest possible number of points.
Times Higher Education Impact Ranking compares universities worldwide according to the SDG goals of the United Nations. For this, spin-offs, patent applications and publications are included that deal with sustainable and social aspects of industry and innovation.
The SDG goals are also known as Agenda 2030 in Germany: in 2016, the United Nations set 17 goals for a sustainable and social world that apply to all countries worldwide. In the aftermath of a conference, each country has set out a roadmap for itself to meet and promote the criteria. They include, for example, no famine, no poverty, equal rights and the promotion of renewable energy.
