Thermosphr completes pre-seed round

The Berlin proptech was able to convince Carsten Maschmeyer as well as Wi Venture and High Rise Ventures in the financing round.

Founded in 2020, Thermosphr still has its commercial launch ahead of it and wants to implement this with the money from its current pre-seed financing round. There's no word on the amount. The round is led by venture capitalist Wi Ventures, which focuses on sustainable investments, and also includes Seed + Speed Ventures, Carsten Maschmeyer's early-stage investor, and proptech-focused investor High Rise Ventures. Business angels "from the real estate industry" are also participating, according to a statement.

"The support of top-tier investors such as Wi Venture and seed + speed Ventures is a confirmation of the importance of our commitment to sustainable real estate," said Thermosphr founder Nicolas Le Borgne. He co-founded the proptech with Mark Aaron Chan, who is CTO, to "bring sweeping change to the real estate industry." Thermosphr develops SaaS solutions for optimizing space heating and ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in commercial properties that do not require costly installation. They are designed to enable real-time optimization of equipment. This saves owners money, but more importantly helps reduce environmental impact, the startup promises.

"HVAC controls need to be constantly adjusted and corrected to adapt to the thermodynamics of a building and the weather conditions. Currently, building management systems provide a limited set of rules to respond to problems," explains CTO Chan. "But efficient controls are more about preventing these problems from occurring in the first place."
