Unmilk launches crowdfunding

The Hamburg-based start-up wants to launch its oat drink in a big way. It now apparently needs money to do so.

The Hamburg-based start-up Unmilk plans to launch a crowdfunding campaign on the Ecooners platform from November 8. According to the start-up, it wants to raise money for its oat drink, which is to contain a mixture of gluten-free oats and protein. Also joining as a backer is Katjes Greenfood, which has financed itself via crowdfunding, according to its website.

According to the startup, the first 100,000 euros will go toward marketing, with another 300,000 euros going toward distribution and expanding its own inventory. It also wants to develop new products. Those who invest early are to receive various bonuses, for example a lifelong oat drink subscription from 25,000 euros investment sum.

Investors should exercise caution, however. According to the start-up, the investment is considered a partial subordinated loan with fixed interest distribution. This means that in the event of bankruptcy, the crowdinvestors will be the last to be paid out. The investment prospectus states accordingly: "For the investor, there is the risk of a total loss of his investment plus further assets, for example as a result of payment obligations from an individual debt financing of the partial subordinated loan or tax payments to be made, which can lead to insolvency. The maximum risk is the private insolvency of the investor."
