Van Heron Labs secures 1.1 million US dollars in seed financing

FoodLabs leads $1.1 million seed funding round for Van Heron Labs, a company developing advanced technologies for the bio-economy.
Biotechnology company Van Heron Labs has closed its seed funding round, raising $1.1 million. The round was led by FoodLabs, an established investor in transformative food and biotechnology projects.
Van Heron Labs is pleased to have the support and funding from FoodLabs to further our goal of improving biological innovation.

Van Heron Labs uses methods such as genomics, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and nanotechnology to improve the cultivation and utilization of cells. Their goal is to develop and commercialize new technologies that address key industrial and global challenges and thus contribute to the emerging bio-economy. Over the past three years, Van Heron Labs has launched three new services. The funding will be used to improve existing technologies and make new innovative approaches available to customers.

Van Heron Labs is working to develop foundational technologies that will enable a more efficient, cost-effective biological future. Their focus is on improving cell-based processes and technologies to meet the demands of a global bio-economy. Their automated platform is the first technology to determine the optimal composition of nutrients for cells based on genetic data. This technology is used to personalize customers' culture media, enabling higher quality, efficiency and scalability.

About Van Heron Labs
Van Heron Labs was founded in February 2020 by Dr. Rebecca Vaught, Dr. Alec Santiago and Nithin Parsan at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. The team supported pandemic response efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been continuously working to improve its platform ever since. Van Heron Labs plans to raise additional funds in 2024 to expand the team and intensify existing efforts.
