Wingcopter major order could fail

12,000 drones for Africa: What was to be Wingcopter's largest order is now apparently on the brink of cancellation.

In May, Wingcopter announced its largest order to date: the startup was to deliver 12,000 of its drones to Africa, spread over five years, to deliver vital goods such as medicine. To do so, Wingcopter partnered with Continental Drones, a subsidiary of Atlantic Trust Holding. Now, according to information from the Welt could fail.

According to the report, the startup has removed the project from its website. Wingcopter has not yet commented on this. However, they are looking for partners and investors, Wingcopter co-founder and CEO Tom Plümmer confirmed to the World on Sunday. The previous investors are nevertheless staying on board. They had not based their valuation on the project anyway, as the investors were unsure whether the unknown partner Atlantic Trust could also finance such a large order.

Just in June, Wingcopter had closed a $42 million financing round. In the process, Rewe Group, Salvia and Xai Technologies joined as new investors. Other investors include Expa, Itochu, Futury Capital and Xplorer Capital.
