German AI expertise has come together in Heilbronn, with a focus on ethical applications. Strengthening digital sovereignty and competitiveness.

Heilbronn - The companies Aleph Alpha and Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence (Ipai) today announced their collaboration in the field of AI research in Heilbronn.

Aleph Alpha, a company focusing on explainable artificial intelligence (AI), will play a significant role in German AI development. The partnership with Ipai aims to establish a platform for applied AI in Europe by pooling expertise, resources and innovation from the local AI landscape. The aim is to strengthen Germany's competitiveness in the AI sector. The Dieter Schwarz Foundation, a co-initiator of Ipai, intends to use this AI ecosystem to secure Germany's digital independence in a key future technology.

We as a state have launched the innovation park here in Heilbronn with start-up funding of up to 50 million. Together with our Cyber Valley in Stuttgart/Tübingen and the CyberForum in Karlsruhe, Ipai forms a unique AI ecosystem. And with Aleph Alpha, we are the only federal state to have been working on an administrative AI application since 2021

Ipai, the Innovation Park Artificial Intelligence in Heilbronn, is an initiative to strengthen Baden-Württemberg's position in the field of AI. The center is intended to map the entire AI value chain, from the qualification of specialists to the application of ethically responsible AI. The aim is to bring together companies, start-ups, research institutions, scientists and public institutions in a supportive environment.

Our partnership with Ipai reinforces our shared goal of developing AI in line with ethical principles that promote the well-being of society. We want to ensure that German AI technologies set new standards in trust and transparency.

The first construction phase of Ipai is currently being realized in the Wohlgelegen Future Park. The second phase is expected to be completed in early 2024. The long-term plan is to establish an international AI campus in Heilbronn to further promote AI development.
