Allgäu-based software start-up Picture Framing receives seed funding

With this, it wants to finance the cloud-based video app "Mozaik". Investors include Bayern Kapital and Müller Medien.

Picture Framing, based in Aitrang, Bavaria, has raised its seed funding for a high six-figure sum. The backers include Bayern Kapital, the venture capital company of the Free State of Bavaria, as well as the Nuremberg-based Müller-Medien family of companies (including the children's book series "Was ist was") and an unnamed business angel. The start-up intends to use the money to further develop the video editing app Mozaik and strengthen its market presence.

Mozaik is a video editing tool for companies to create corporate videos on their mobile phones quickly, cheaply and without prior knowledge, according to the company. The app is cloud-based. "Picture Framing has developed a clever tool that makes high-quality video productions accessible to a broad entrepreneurial audience," said Bayern Capital managing director Roman Huber. "The innovative cloud approach coupled with a scalable, calculable business model makes Picture Framing a highly interesting investment for us in the software sector."

The start-up, which was founded two years ago, counts various savings banks and media companies among its customers. The team around the founders David Knöbl and Neele Maarten de Vries is located in the digital start-up center "Allgäu Digital" with its 14 employees.
