Capreolos, an offshoot of Goethe University, secures an investment of 1.2 million euros for the development of the Prehab app - a solution for preparing patients for surgical procedures.

Capreolos GmbH, an offshoot of Goethe University, has successfully completed its seed financing round. The leading investor is bmh Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen mbH, supported by existing investors. Legal advice was provided by Alexander Liebing of Baker Tilly.

The investment amounts to a total of 1.2 million euros, including additional funding from the Distr@l funding program of the Hessian Ministry for Digital Strategy and Development.

With bmh Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen and in particular with Stephan Groß as investment manager, we have found a fair and competent partner who has supported our innovative product from the very beginning.

Prof. Andreas Schnitzbauer, Managing Director of Capreolos GmbH

Capreolos has developed the Prehab app, a digital medical device that enables patients to prepare safely for major surgical procedures from home. The app offers a customized prehabilitation program based on risk data collected by the attending physician. This program is automatically transferred to the patient's smartphone. In combination with a smartwatch provided, patients train at home for at least three weeks, accompanied by nutritional and mental support measures as well as direct feedback on adherence. The integration of Patient-Reported Outcomes (PRO) and automated safety checks should ensure maximum reliability. An initial pilot study at Frankfurt University Hospital with 393 participants was very promising. The PROs are now to be tested further under controlled conditions.

Capreolos already has an extensive network in the research community and in the clinical environment, which we see as an important success factor for the coming years.

Stephan Groß, Investment Manager at bmh

The fresh investment and the funding from the Hessian Ministry for Digital Strategy and Development provide Capreolos GmbH with financial leeway of a good 1.2 million euros for the next two years. This will enable the development of the medical product for the market and the establishment of targeted marketing strategies. The founding team has already recruited highly qualified employees - two regulatory specialists, two developers and two study experts - for the joint project with Goethe University.
