Ex-Yahoo CEO launches own app

Marissa Mayer, former CEO of Yahoo, launches her first app on the market. With Sunshine Contacts, she has developed an intelligent address book.
From a large internet company to the world of start-ups: Marissa Mayer, former CEO of Yahoo, is starting small again. Together with her colleague Enrique Muñoz Torres, she founded the start-up Sunshine in 2018. It has now released its first app, Sunshine Contacts.
The app can currently only be downloaded by invitation and serves as an intelligent address book for Apple users. It is designed to synchronize contacts from Gmail and Apple Contacts, remove duplicates and merge information. The app will receive additional features and a premium version over time. Anyone using it must store their own contact data - including personal data, which is stored like a business card and can be viewed by selected contacts. According to the start-up, however, it does not trade with the information or use it for commercial purposes. Mayer told CNBC that the previous digital address book services were outdated. Hers would update automatically when an individual changes their cell phone number or email address, for example.
Sunshine was founded six months after the Yahoo sale under the name Lumi Labs and has so far raised 20 million dollars. Further apps are planned.
