Exclusive: Kertos receives one million euros

The data protection start-up has thus successfully completed its pre-seed financing round. It is led by 10x Founders.

Munich-based start-up Kertos has successfully completed its pre-seed funding round. The start-up, which specializes in data protection, was thus able to raise one million euros. 10x Found ers led the funding round. VCs XDeck and Superlyst also participated, as well as some well-known founders such as Fabian Wesemann (Wefox), Ronny Shibley (Gorillas) and Sebastian Schaal (Luminovo). In addition, European legal tech and data protection experts Lisa Gradow (Usercentrics), Phillip Eischet and Benedikt Quarch (Rightnow) invested.

Kertos structures, manages and automates internal corporate data protection processes and sees itself as the first project of its kind in Europe. In this way, the start-up wants to help companies process personal and thus sensitive data in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Workflows would thus be streamlined, employees relieved and resources freed up, the start-up advertises.

With the capital it raised, Kertos says it has grown its team to more than 15 members in just a few weeks. It is also now announcing the launch of its beta product. "Being a developer myself, I was well aware of the high standards and challenges that data privacy regulations pose to modern engineering teams, yet I'm really impressed with what the team has accomplished in the last few weeks and I'm excited to finally see the product in action," says co-founder Alexander Prams.
