Gropyus gets 100 million euros

The Viennese proptech wins Vonovia, among others, as an investor.

Austrian proptech Gropyus receives 100 million euros in capital. The Series B financing round is led by German real estate group Vonovia, with other undisclosed backers also participating.

Gropyus, founded in Vienna in 2019, offers modular homes. Delivery Hero co-founder Markus Fuhrmann, among others, is behind the company. The special feature: These modules are at least partially made of wood. The start-up was thus able to raise a total of 200 million euros for this idea. Currently, around 300 employees work for Gropyus.

"We are pleased that we were able to convince Europe's largest housing company, Vonovia, of our products," says Gropyus CEO Fuhrmann: "We will invest the funds from our current Series B financing round in product development and the expansion of production and manufacturing capacities." As part of the financing round, Vonovio's Chief Development Officer Daniel Riedl also joins Gropyus' Supervisory Board. "Gropyus is digitizing and transforming the housing and construction industry, and we would like to use this access for our projects in the future to further advance resource-efficient housing," he says, explaining the Bochum-based company's investment.
