Nacon buys Daedalic Entertainment for 53 million euros

The German game producer will keep its executives. For Nacon, it is the largest acquisition to date.

French company Nacon, which distributes video games and accessories, has announced the purchase of Hamburg-based game developer Daedalic Entertainment. The two companies had already started their cooperation last year. Regarding distribution, they had entered into an agreement related to the game "The Lord of the Rings: Gollum". Now Nacon has taken over 100 percent of Daedalic. Nacon intends to pay 32 million euros of the purchase sum directly. The remaining million is tied to Daedalic's performance until 2026.

The integration into the Nacon Group should enable Daedalic to expand its development team and strengthen its position as an indie publisher. In addition, CEO Carsten Fichtelmann and COO Stephen Harms are expected to continue to lead the company. Meanwhile, sales, publishing and marketing activities are to be bundled.

"We knew through our current collaboration on Gollum that Nacon and Daedalic share the same values and the same goals to deliver unique experiences to gamers," said Alain Falc, chairman and CEO of Nacon. "Together with Nacon, we are now taking the next step to further develop our catalog of games created by our own team, as well as many incredible indie studios," adds Daedalic's Fichtelmann.

Daedalic Entertainment has been in existence since 2007 and employs 87 people. According to its own statements, this makes it one of the largest and oldest independent video game companies in Germany. Through the purchase by Nacon, Daedalic now becomes part of a company that became known in particular for gaming accessories such as controllers and co.
