Ratepay may face exit

In this case, the company could receive a valuation in the billions, according to media reports.
In the near future, an exit could be imminent, the likes of which do not happen every day in Germany: as reported by Finance Forward reports, investors are positioning themselves for a takeover of Berlin-based payment service provider Ratepay. According to the source, the company could receive a valuation in the billions in such a case.
Buyers such as KKR, EQT, Warburg, Nordiq, CVC, Affirm, Afterpay or Scalapay could be considered, according to the source. However, these are only predictions so far. An unnamed investment bank has probably already asked private equity companies whether they are interested. It is unclear whether the merged payment service providers Nexi and Nets, which are behind Ratepay, have already initiated a sales process.
Ratepay GmbH, based in Berlin, was founded in December 2009 and employs more than 280 people. Miriam Wohlfarth is the founder of the company, and Nina Pütz has been in charge since 2020. The company offers payment solutions with payment guarantee in the DACH region. These include purchase on account, payment by instalment with immediate online commitment, direct debit and prepayment. Unlike providers such as Klarna, the provider does not target end customers directly, but rather other companies. For example, when end customers shop at an online shop that has commissioned Ratepay, they often don't even notice that the payment process is handled by Ratepay.
