The fresh capital is to be used to expand the production of 100-kilowatt and 500-kilowatt biogas power plants. A further 12 million euros in research funding has been promised.

Climate technology start-up Reverion has successfully raised €8.5 million from investors including UVC Partners, Green Generation Fund, Extantia Capital, Doral Energy-Tech Ventures and Landwärme GmbH to accelerate the production of its flexible power plants.

Reverion, a start-up that emerged from the Technical University of Munich and participated in UnternehmerTUM's XPRENEURS incubation program, offers a new technology that allows biogas plant operators to increase their revenues by up to 400%. The company plans to raise Series A financing to scale up production and be prepared for increasing market demand for gigawatt-scale renewable capacity.

We already have pre-orders of over 60 million euros that we plan to fulfill

Felix Fischer, Co-Founder & COO Reverion

Reverion's modular power plants can double the efficiency of electricity generation compared to conventional technology and can run in reverse to produce a natural gas substitute or green hydrogen from renewable electricity and store it to add flexibility to the grid. The company states that the power plants are CO2-negative when using biogas.

Our technology addresses four of the eight currently stated goals: Improving energy storage, expanding electrolysis processes and fuel cells, increasing the use of biogas and biomethane, and carbon storage.

UVC Partners emphasizes the importance of working with established industries and supporting startups in the hardware space through capital and networks. The founding team of Reverion with its insights, has attracted the interest of UVC Partners.

About Reverion

Reverion is a spin-off of the Technical University of Munich that develops and sells container-based systems for power generation and energy storage. The plants have a high efficiency and can be operated with biogas and hydrogen. They also produce pure CO2 as a byproduct of power generation and can be operated reversibly to convert excess renewable electricity to hydrogen or methane. The technology combines efficiency improvement, CO2-negative operation and seasonal energy storage in a single plant.
