Successful financing round strengthens Seasony: Focus on advanced indoor farming technology!

Copenhagen-based Seasony, a provider of mobile robotics for vertical farming, successfully announces the closing of its latest financing round, securing 1.5 million euros in investment. The round was led by North Ventures and EFIO (Export and Investment Fund of Denmark). In addition to them, several business angels also invested, including Vagn Ove Soerensen, Torben Wind, Klaus Holse, Barbara Taudorf Andersen, Nicolaj Reffstrup (Look Up Ventures) and many more.

This funding brand will support Seasony in making indoor farming more scalable, profitable and sustainable through cutting-edge mobile robotics technology. The funds will enable Seasony to accelerate product development and expand into key markets in the Middle East and North America.

Use of mobile robotics in indoor agriculture

The core of Seasony is to bring the best of mobile robotic automation, largely known from Amazon warehouses, to indoor farming. By using mobile robots, growers get a flexible and cost-effective automated solution that offers an alternative to both scissor lifts and static elevators and conveyors.

We are striving for Watney to become the John Deere of indoor farming. Watney handles heavy and dangerous work as well as analyzing every plant down to the smallest detail

Christopher Weis Thomasen, co-founder and CEO of Seasony

Watney can work around the clock, from the moment the seeds are sown to the moment the plants are harvested. When Watney is on the road in a vertical farm, he takes care of tasks such as moving plant trays up and down racks that are ten meters high and transporting them to different stations. At the same time, it continuously analyzes, reports and stores data on the characteristics of each individual plant and the environment in which they grow.

A combination of sensors, robotics and algorithms from Seasony makes it possible to intervene much earlier in the process of vertical farming. If a plant needs more water, nutrients, light or CO2, the systems can provide this critical information. This creates the best conditions for the vertical farm to achieve maximum yield.

We are delighted to have successfully completed this financing round and are grateful for the support and trust of our investors

Christopher Weis Thomasen, co-founder and CEO of Seasony

Seasony is a robotic automation platform that improves the scalability, profitability and sustainability of vertical farms. With the autonomous mobile robot "Watney", we automate core processes in vertical farms and provide growers with valuable data insights - offered in a 'robotics as a service' model.

The company was created by three friends, dreamers and entrepreneurs. Erkan (COO), Servet (CTIO) and Christopher (CEO) met when they were 10 years old and attended elementary school together. They stayed together through their studies at DTU and CBS and their first jobs. Today, their friendship has evolved into the robotics company Seasony, which is a shining example of the next generation of green entrepreneurs.
